Welcome back to our industry spotlight series, where we look at various industries where CELLIANT® infrared technology can make a big difference. Previous articles include applications in the hospitality, airlines, automotive, FemTech and athletic recovery spaces. In this article, we get into the upholstery and home interiors industry to see how CELLIANT technology fits in and can give brands a competitive advantage.
Our indoor spaces, like our homes, offices, and built environments are extremely important in our lives. In fact, according to a study by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Americans, on average, spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. Considering we spend so much time indoors, we should find ways to make our spaces work harder for our wellness. One way we can infuse wellness is through the fabrics and upholstery that are commonly found in our spaces.
The fabrics of our indoor environments hold huge potential to help infuse wellness into our spaces. Wellness fabrics include innovations and trends like:
Wellness fabrics are becoming more and more popular and, here at CELLIANT, we firmly believe there will be a time when all fabrics contribute to wellness.
As our CEO and Co-founder Seth Casden, put it in a recent interview with Sourcing Journal, “If you can passively improve your health and well-being as you go about your day, why wouldn’t we start to expect and envision a world where all fabrics are wellness fabrics?”
Infrared fabrics, like fabrics infused with CELLIANT, are bio-responsive because they produce a physiological change in the person wearing, laying, sitting on, or in very close proximity to the fabric. CELLIANT is a proprietary blend of bioceramic minerals that works by capturing and converting body heat into infrared energy. This infrared energy causes increased local circulation and improved cellular oxygenation which creates a number of wellness benefits, including:
These wellness benefits make CELLIANT a great fit for upholstery and indoor environments, like our homes, offices, and waiting rooms.
Our partnership with Crypton to create the Wellness Textures collection is a perfect example of fabrics that bring wellness and energy into the home. The collection of 38 fabrics, available exclusively through Kravet, are beautiful, welcoming, functional and energizing.
They’ve been featured in Architectural Digest where they were celebrated for a unique blend of style and innovation. As Daniel Kravet, VP of Sales at Kravet, says in the article, “Oftentimes I feel there is a misconception that if a product has additional performance qualities and traits, you have to sacrifice style or beauty. With this CELLIANT collection, it’s just as visually appealing as everything else we offer at Kravet, and feels just as good as it looks.”
We’re incredibly proud of this collaboration and partnership as we work hard to enhance not only fabrics but any brand we work with. It’s core to who we are as an ingredient brand partner to world-class brands. Our mission is to energize people and their spaces through enhancing our brand partners’ products, storytelling, offering a real competitive advantage.
As Lance Keziah, CEO at Crypton puts it, “As the category leader and innovator of performance technologies for contract and residential markets, we are proud to introduce Crypton CELLIANT and the enhanced performance properties it represents. This innovation also demonstrates our strong, ongoing commitment to American manufacturing. With the introduction of CELLIANT technology to our fabric offering, we have found a trusted performance partner in sync with our company values and sustainability mission.”
Fabrics that are used in commercial settings brings wellness into those places where we’re often sedentary, like in our office chairs or in waiting rooms. Our partnership with Designtex, the leaders in the design and manufacturing of applied materials for the built environment, to create Designtex CELLIANT brings these space world-class fabrics that do more.
Designtex CELLIANT has been showcased in exhibits, including the Be Original Americas exhibit, where the technology was shown deconstructed, giving audiences a unique way to understand how material sciences translate to the final upholstery product.
“We like to think of this new collection as charging stations for people,” said Susan Lyons, Designtex President. “The technology provides health and wellness benefits for sedentary moments, like an office worker in their chair or a person sitting in a waiting room, which is revolutionary. It really is a human solution and we are proud to be a part of bringing wellness to the built environment.”
If you’re interested in partnering with us to create new fabrics for interior spaces or if you’re looking to gain a real competitive advantage by infusing your spaces with the Wellness Textures from Crypton, Kravet and CELLIANT or the Designtex CELLIANT collection, our Business Development team would love to hear from you.
